In the past,to give visibility to a younger generation of  FtMs that wasn’t as represented as much as « fully transitionned » men in art project and medias, age has been a criteria. XX Boys gave a great visibility to younger FtMs and we find important now to not have an age criteria anymore and show men of all ages in our project. 

So: age,ethnical background, style, look, tattoos/piercings, having had any kind of surgery, taking hormones or not, body shape ARE NOT criterias, and XX Boys is open to ALL transmen.

But there 2 criterias...;)

To have a strong personnal/political motivation to pose for the project.
And to be commited to that motivation as much as we are commited to this project.

We really intent to create a strong, positive, original and artistic representation of FtMs, and for that we commit our time, work, money, and hopes, to this project, we want you to be strong in your decision to pose for the project and the visibility that goes with it ! and Yes taking pictures is gonna be fun, and that is the cherry on top of the cake !
 

You can register to model for XX Boys directly through the website, in the “Get Involved” section. You’ll find a application form to be filled and sent with pictures of you.

You’ll receive an automated answer to confirm your registration as a model and you will be contacted you when the photographer will happen to be in your area.

No one outside of the XXBoys website team have access to your information. All information you write on your application file are kept private and not to be shared with anyone else.

It’s up to you. But don’t forget that the more you take time to answer the questions, the more I will be able to share your world and the more the picture will look like You, in all your diversity, your complexity, your authenticity.

Well, you probably experienced the former and unorganized version of the project manager! But I DO have all the submissions and will get back to you when I will travel in your area. If you want to make sure you’re registered or want to update your submission file though, apply again in the “Get Involved” section. And you’ll get an automated email confirmation

In the “News” section. And if your registered as a model, if I happen to visit your area, I will personally email you in advance to prepare and schedule the photo shooting/s.

The question has been asked a few times...lol of course: No! You don’t pay to pose for XX Boys and we don’t pay for your modeling. It’s a shared and free mutual interest

Not for the XXBoys project, as long as your parents sign a model release if you’re underage.
Underage models CAN NOT apply for the XXX section. We insist: no pictures of models under the legal age (refer to your local laws) will be published in the XXX section.

It’s very relaxed, we'll share a nice moment of talking, sharing a drink while i set up my camera. we'd have talked about the shoot via email and we'll talk more about it together, we'll take a walk to find a spot or we would go to the location we'd have planned, and shoot. It's nothing formal, I will give a few directions but mostly go with the flow and work with spontaneity and instinct, I’ll do my best to help you be at ease and gorgeously you.

 

Please get at least one. We want the photo to look like you, we really want you to be glad and proud of it. The more you’re involved in the shooting, the better the picture will be.
Remember: there’s no bad idea. Try to find out if you want to look sweet, tough, hard, mysterious … You have probably a favourite color, a favourite tshirt, a favourite place, a favourite movie … You’d like to have pictures of you taken dressed like this or that, or to experience something new, or to express something important. It’s the perfect moment to make it happen. You’re part of it, as much as the photographer, and even more.
 

Well, maybe you have one but you don’t know yet. Maybe your kitchen looks fantastic or the bar next door has a great couch we can use. Sometimes a simple wall can be amazing. Or maybe you’d love to be shot at the oldschool barbershop at the corner of the street, and you don’t know how to ask: well, let us know in the application form and we’ll do our best to get in touch with them. Generally, if you know a location that you like and would like to share with us for an upcoming shooting with other XXBoys, let us know through the “Get Involved” section, where you can send photos and address of a great place we’d love.

Who’s not? Don’t worry, it doesn’t come up in the pictures unless you want it. Let’s share a secret: most of the XXBoys were shy during the photoshoot. Shyness is definitely not an obstacle (and shyness is sexy).

The application form is the perfect place to let me know about your body issues.I will keep that in mind when I'll shot you and will work with light, angles, photo corrections and setting so that nothing you feel uncomfortable with is seen on the picture. I'm a transman too and know about gender related body issues and totally understands your concerns.

Of course. We’re happy and proud to know that you’re willing to share your changes with us.

It depends. The XXBoys project shows portraits of one individual at a time. Nevertheless, other sections, such as “XXX” may show 2 (or more) people.

Go for it, Jack London! Though don’t forget to make it as easy and safe as it would be if we stayed in your living-room. Get a car if we need one, maps, and we’ll make sure that we have everything we need.

 

Well, it’s not because we’ll take 200 pictures that there will be 200 GOOD pictures. I'm happy when we gets 5 TERRIFIC pictures out of our photo shoot. It’s way better than 40 average. The profile gallery show 5 pictures but can host more pics!

 

All photographers feels different about giving/showing everypictures of a photoshoot, I personally don't feel comfortable doing that as every picture selected to be part of the XXBoys project is the result of a long process, work, and artistic feeling, so i'm sorry but no :)

Of course we can shoot different location and settings the same day, or meet up different time during my stay. it’s just a matter of time and organization.

Well… the idea is to create some hot gender pirate eye candy and have fun outside the profile portrait that must suit all kind of public. It’s thought to be funnier and perhaps kinkier than the “basic” XXBoys portraits. But it’s not necessarily graphic or explicit. It’s the place to get dressed (or undressed), to pose with someone, to eat ice cream, to play with ropes, to get a picture of your secret piercing, to show off, to clean boots, to get in a shower…

Of course not. Just let me know how you see this picture.

For the beggining we decided to post a new XX Boy profile once a week. It will take a couple of months until your pics are up.

 

Your text is the place to write about something personal, about your transition experience, about your experience in society as a trans, about your relationships to your body, about your family, school work, about your political beliefs, about your first shot or the decision to not take hormones, about the fear you had, about your everyday life, about your coming out, about your personal definition of what being a man is for you…

 

Do how you feel, it is more a question of how much you say than how many word you used. You never say too much, say every thing you want to say, and think about the people that might read you, a FtM looking to find reassurance about the transition, someone who never hear about such a thing as being a transman,  your experience expand the awarness and diversity of all of us.

 

That would be fantastic! if you are bilingual in spanish, german etc... and are willing to send your text in both language or if you have a bilingual friend who's willing to translate it for you that would be great! We are trying to gather a team of translator who will help us on their free time to make XX Boys texts accessible to the most, if you want to get on board drop us a message!

The info part is for quick info about your transition, age, if you take hormones or not, if you got surgery, when, etc it is also where you can share up to 5 links, like to your personnal website, blog, or art page.

If you want to add words to your text, or send an updated version of your text you can send us your new text. It might take a little time to be updated on the site by our small team. Instead of changing it all we think that it's more interesting to add a few paragraphs to the existing one to display the evolution of your feeling and thoughts about your transition.

 

Same as the text, let us know and we’ll change it on your profile, but as it involve to change all your pics, title etc, it will takes a little time!

They are the texts translation pop up. Fr is for French, es for Spanish, po for portugese, du for dutch, ger for german, swe for Swedish, and if you want to help us translate the text write us and join the translation team!

We thought it would be interesting to hear about the transition from a partner, a lover, a family member, someone who’s been there, and outside perspective, so we added an ally pop up on the profile and you can send us the text of someone close to you to add to your profile.

That fonction is not working yet but in the future you'll be able to forward us your allie text and pic.

The video section has been designed in the goal to create a great FtM tube! It is not open yet In the video section we’ll be able to surf on FtMs and gender related videos posted online on you tube and such. You will be able to post an embedded code of a video through the get involved “add a video” section. You won’t forget to add a description and tag to your video.
To help us buil the video section you can get a supporter membership or send us a donation.

Visitors have acces to the news, links, get involved, special guest, shop sections and photo contest page and winner photo.

They have limited acess to the writing section.

They have access to XX Boys profile, who's model choose to be seen by everyone including anonymous internet surfers.

All XX Boys have different feeling about visibility and privacy. For those who believe that the most important is to be accessible by everyone online without registering conditions, they made their profile accessible to visitors. They have access to the texts and translations, and profile pictures .
 

You're a member when you created a log in on the site through the get involved section.

As a members you have access to the news, links, and coming special guest, shop and dicklets  section. you can read the zine on the website, and have access to the photo contest winners pictures and member access to the writing section.

you have access to all of the XX Boys profiles but those only accessible by supporters.

All XX Boys have different feeling about visibility and privacy. For those who want to be visible but not to anonymous internet surfers, they can decide to make their profile private and only accessible to members or to supporters (coming fonction).

Members have access to the texts, translations, profile pictures,  and member access to the photo gallery (visitor can only access to the profile picture).
 

You can become active supporters of the project, and help us achieve our goal of creating FtM visibility and awarness through art and promotion of our community. This project is 100% D.I.Y and will be running for years with your help!

The XXB zine is a little Art magazine about FtMs/boys/gender related stuff made out of the submission we receive from ftms and allies that you can read on xxboys.net and download in high def (supporters).

What we’re looking for? Pictures, drawing, texts, poems, pictures of 3d creations, installations, collages, painting, spray paint etc etc, anything artistic and FtM/trans/gender related!

All content that you send must be your creation.

Every month XXBoys.net throw a photo contest that is both an excuse to have fun and also to explore more intimate parts of our journeys, like hormones, familly, passing, binding etc. FtMs from all around the world can share together their pictures and a piece of their life, and win a prize!

The photo contest is open to all FtMs!

Means, it doesn't matter where you're at in your transition, if you take hormones, or not, if you've had surgery or not, if you're a great photographer or if it's your first try. We believe everyone is seXXy whatever their style, color, size, or body shape. We make our themes open to everyone, you enter them with your own sensibility, we want to display the variety among us.

To enter the photo contest find a camera of a friend with a camera and take some pictures of yourself.

You can send up to 3 pictures.

Name your picture "your name 01", "your name 02", "your name 03" and send your pictures to xxboysphotocontest@gmail.com

You can send up to three pictures, if you send more pictures only the three first pictures we'll enter the contest.

Send us the best resolution and size that you can.

The best picture will be chosen for it's creativity, sexxyness, humor, sensibility, message, and artistic quality. all combined!

Amators and professionnal pictures have equal chances to win the contest.

A dicklet is a contraction of the word “dick” and “clit”. It can be used to refer to FtMs genitalia.

But not all FtMs use Dicklet to refer to what they have in their underwear! Some use cock, dick, clit, little guy or have nickname for it. You must always be carefull when you want to talk about  intimate stuff and be aware of your FtM friend or lover's prefered vocabulary to talk about his body.

You can send your picture through the Get involved Section. Although the section is still not opened you can already send us your picture so when we'll have enough fund to build it, we'll open it with some content!

All FtM of legal age can send pictures to the dicklet section, weither they take hormones or not. We won't accept any pictures of minors. If you are under 18 or 21 depending on your local laws please don't send us your pic.

 

XX Boys goal is to create a strong , empowering, diverse, sexy and positive representation of transman. And diffuse images, information, awarness, promote trans artist and project through his website http://xxboys.net and through exhibit, publication, object, events and artistic collaboration on an international level.

The XX Boys are all differents, they all made different transitional choices, they all have a personal meaning for what being a transman is, they have different style, different ethnical background, different sexuality, gender expression, sensibility and experiences, and they all share one thing: they all shared a piece of their beautiful self to create more visibility awarness and positive representation for all transmen.

The project started in 2004!

The project is funded out of donations, merchandise selling and supporter memberships, all the money goes back into the project, to fund and manage the website, organize travels and event. Every dollar is important.

Yes. It is important to pass the message widely and help students who included transgenders, queer art in their research and work. And it’s great to see how many different fields of research transgenderism/trans art reaches, so just send me an email through the get involve section.

XX Boys show pictures regularly through photos exhibit or slideshows, all information, dates about the exhibit are in the news section.

XX Boys photos has been shown in the United States, in Canada, in France, in Belgium, Spain, Ireland and Germany, in Australia, in Italia and in Sweden.
It has been shown in lgbt spaces and festivals, in public place such as bars and art space in the French subway, in Art galleries and space, in Museums and Universities.
 

XX Boys is an art project who uses images, word and events as medium to create trans visibility.

Well, we’re French, not so bad at English, but sometimes we mentally translate things from French to English before typing. And yes, it can creates a very personal and unexpected English-like language from time to time. You’re very welcome to correct our mistakes anyway.
